SUMMARY:FABRICate
DESCRIPTION:June 1st – June 30th 10:00 am – 5 pm Monday – Saturday 12:00 – 5 Pm Sundays \n\n  \nThe League of NH Craftsmen in Meredith\, NH –is proud to present its latest exhibition “FABRICate”\, showcasing the work of four incredible fiber artists Cheryl Miller\, Elaine Farmer\, Patsy Fraiser and Helen Fitzgerald. FABRICate is a celebration of the versatility and beauty of fabric as an artistic medium. Each artist has created a stunning collection of work that showcases their unique style and vision. A little about these artists: Cheryl Miller starts with an idea\, a pair of scissors\, and a pile of fabrics. she draws inspiration from nature and art history often mixing in hidden stories\, symbolism\, or words. She makes her pieces with a simple mechanical sewing machine using stitching and raw edge appliqué to create a textile collage. People often find an emotional connection to her work based on a feeling or experience they have had in their life. This is what keeps her creating. Elaine Farmer has always had a deep connection to the natural world around her\, translating nature’s magnificence. Her passion has always lied in her desire to find texture\, color\, and lighting effects\, in all things organic\, offering an endless source of subjects and challenges for me. As a traditional landscape oil painter for over 50 years\, she discovered needle felting as a new medium in 2019. Patsy Frasier has been a needle felter since 2010 and a mixed media crafter from childhood. Every piece she creates is one of a kind and nothing is mass-produced. Patsy has lived in the beautiful\, inspiring State of New Hampshire since birth. The core of her creativity is to “Focus on Fun” which she does by crafting a piece or offering a workshop so others can “Focus on Fun” too! She is inspired by everything around her and especially likes to add a little whimsy to most of her creations. Patsy feels she accomplished her goal when one of her creations puts a smile on your face. Helen Fitzgerald’s tapestries are inspired by the beauty and rhythms of the natural world. She intends for the weavings to be both acknowledgments as well as an archive of the plants and animals threatened by climate change. The weavings recognize the extraordinary worth of the natural world and offer a tangible ‘namaste’ to all living creatures. Her tapestries begin with an image Helen sketches and then employs as a guide. Once the tapestry is begun on the loom\, however\, the magic and serendipitous nature of the art of weaving jumps off into abstraction\, embellishment\, deconstruction\, or whimsy. For more details\, visit our website at http://meredith.nhcrafts.org and our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/nhcraft/ The League of NH Craftsmen is a non-profit organization that encourages and promotes the creation\, use\, and preservation of fine contemporary and traditional handcraft. The League represents the signature of excellence in fine craft\, through the work of its juried members\, and its rigorous standards for self-expression\, vision\, and quality craftsmanship.
