DESCRIPTION:Start Time\nTuesday\, December 12\, 2023 @ 9:00am\nEnd Time\nTuesday\, December 12\, 2023 @ 12:00pm\n\nCelebrate and Explore Squam Series\nDuring November and December join an SLA staff member to explore the Squam Watershed and learn more about our mission. This is your opportunity to get out into the field\, celebrate SLA work done in 2023\, look toward what’s next and learn how you might join the effort to protect the place we all cherish and love. \nCotton Mountain Hike\nLocation: Meet at Cotton Mountain trailhead parking lot. Click here for a google map. \nThis trail is on the private property of Burleigh\, LLP who generously allows public access along the trails maintained by the SLA. \nRegistration: Registration required and closes at 9:00 am\, December 11th. Space is limited to 10. Click here to register. \nThis Week’s Program:  \nJoin SLA’s Communication & Outreach Coordinator Rachel Coughlin for a morning hike up Cotton Mountain! Learn about SLA’s volunteer programs and opportunities\, and about the recent invasive species maintenance done at the Cotton Mountain Trailhead. This is a great opportunity to check off Cotton Mountain from your Squam Rangers Checklist as well! Not a Squam Ranger? Chat with Rachel about it on your way up (don’t worry\, you can count this hike retroactively!) \nThis is a 1.3 mile out and back trail and can be a bit steep at times. \nWhat to Bring: Weather appropriate clothing\, hiking boots\, snacks & water. Microspikes and trekking poles if you have them. Microspikes are available on a first come-first serve basis. \nAudience: Everyone is welcome\, children must be accompanied by an adult. Considered a moderately challenging route. \nThis Week’s SLA Staff Guide:  \nRachel Coughlin has been with the SLA as a full-time employee since February of 2022\, but was previously a Lakes Region Conservation Corps member with us in 2020. She got her degree in Wildlife & Conservation Biology from The University of New Hampshire in 2019. In her free time\, you can find her curled up with her cat and reading a good book. \n
