SUMMARY:Gift of Lights – New Hampshire Motor Speedway\, Loudon NH
DESCRIPTION:The family tradition of driving through 2.5 miles of dazzling Christmas light displays at New Hampshire Motor Speedway continues this year with the Gift of Lights. The 13th annual event will spread 39 nights of holiday cheer with fundraising for the local community with more than 3.5 million twinkly LED lights on display from Thursday\, Nov. 23 (Thanksgiving) through Sunday\, Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve). Gift of Lights will open at 4:30 p.m. nightly til 9pm Sunday-Thurs. and Fri & Sat until 10pm\, depending on weather conditions. \nThis year\, the drive-thru light show will feature a 150-foot RGB Tunnel of Lights\, arches\, toys\, numerous scenes including the popular 12 Days of Christmas & much more. Crews will spend more than 650 work hours to set up more than 520 displays & 80 different scenes. Featured attractions will also include the fan-favorite 130-foot-long infield entrance & exit tunnels with more than 25\,000 lights & the opportunity to roast marshmallows & toast s’mores over open fire pits. \nTickets will go on sale soon for $35 per car load & $60 per bus\, limousine or RV (add $2 per person for vehicles containing more than 15 guests). A portion of admission proceeds will benefit the New Hampshire Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.

This is your opportunity to get out into the field\, celebrate SLA work done in 2023\, look toward what’s next and learn how you might join the effort to protect the place we all cherish and love. \nCotton Mountain Hike\nLocation: Meet at Cotton Mountain trailhead parking lot. Click here for a google map. \nThis trail is on the private property of Burleigh\, LLP who generously allows public access along the trails maintained by the SLA. \nRegistration: Registration required and closes at 9:00 am\, December 11th. Space is limited to 10. Click here to register. \nThis Week’s Program:  \nJoin SLA’s Communication & Outreach Coordinator Rachel Coughlin for a morning hike up Cotton Mountain! Learn about SLA’s volunteer programs and opportunities\, and about the recent invasive species maintenance done at the Cotton Mountain Trailhead. This is a great opportunity to check off Cotton Mountain from your Squam Rangers Checklist as well! Not a Squam Ranger? Chat with Rachel about it on your way up (don’t worry\, you can count this hike retroactively!) \nThis is a 1.3 mile out and back trail and can be a bit steep at times. \nWhat to Bring: Weather appropriate clothing\, hiking boots\, snacks & water. Microspikes and trekking poles if you have them. Microspikes are available on a first come-first serve basis. \nAudience: Everyone is welcome\, children must be accompanied by an adult. Considered a moderately challenging route. \nThis Week’s SLA Staff Guide:  \nRachel Coughlin has been with the SLA as a full-time employee since February of 2022\, but was previously a Lakes Region Conservation Corps member with us in 2020. We play every major sporting event and have plenty of TV’s so there is never a bad seat.
