Where to take a sleigh ride in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire

Bretton Woods

As long as there’s snow on the ground you can take either a one-horse drawn or Austrian (two horses) sleigh ride through the countryside. The Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods has daily sleigh ride options.

Cost: Half-hour private ride (per couple) is $95 for guests and $105 for the public

Carriage rides are offered year-round at Mount Washington Resort as weather permits. Sleigh rides are offered during the winter as conditions permit from mid-December – mid-April. Click here for more information.

Wolfeboro Bay Winter Carnival: Winter Wonderland

Off-Road Adventure Tour – at Alpine Adventures in Lincoln 

Go off-roading in the 6 wheel drive swizz army transport vehicles called Pinzgauers. Our Pinzgauers have modified seating to accommodate 11 guests in bucket seats with lap belts. We padded the overhead cages. On nice days we’ll take the top off to enjoy the ride. Our driver will entertain you on your journey. Cog in the Winter – at The Mount Washington Cog Railway

Explore higher elevations of the White Mountains at the Cog Railway – throughout the winter their trains terminate at the Waumbek Station, located in an alpine meadow at roughly 4000’ and, in clear conditions, provide spectacular views to the north and west. Passengers can leave the train for about 25 minutes to enjoy complimentary hot refreshments, warming huts, and a fire pit.

Safe Haven Ballet Presents: The Nutcracker

December 4th at 7pm
December 5th at 12pm, 4pm

Safe Haven Ballet is thrilled to bring our spirited, full-length ballet of The Nutcracker to The Colonial Theatre of Laconia. This dynamic performance includes all of your favorite characters including a strong-minded Clara to the eccentric Drosselmeyer, the spooky Rats, as well as our beloved Sugarplum Fairy danced by artistic director, Lissa Curtis. In the Land of Sweets, you will be introduced to a variation unique to Safe Haven Ballet called The Brave American. Come sing and clap along to this spirited, patriotic piece! Included in our cast are Safe Haven Ballet professional company members, trainees, and guest artist, Kenny Corrigan from New York City. SHB is located in beautiful Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and exists to offer free trauma-sensitive classes to survivors of sexual/domestic violence and trauma. Many of these brave survivors will be in the production as they help bring the magic of the season to you. We would love your energetic applause! All sales are final. Eileen’s Irish and American roots shine throughout the evening’s beautiful mix of traditional, story-filled, age-old Wren Day songs, poems, and of course, foot-stomping and hollerin’ roots music. Eileen and the ensemble’s plethora of instruments and voices weave throughout the evening, coupled with Ivers’ signature warmth, inviting listeners in for a tuneful, soulful celebration capturing the true spirit and joy of the season.
